The Production Support DevOps Advisor (Application Development Advisor) p rovides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host-based, distributed systems, client-server, software, hardware, technologies, and tools, etc.).Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server, software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.).

Responsibilities

Establish, implement and document best practices with regards to system maintenance, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and general DevOps responsibilities.

Reduce risk and increase performance for web or cloud-based systems and applications.

Work closely with developers during the deployment and testing phases to provide insight into operational, security, and performance considerations.

Keep systems and data secure at all times, complying with the latest security standards.

Audit, troubleshoot and resolve system availability and integrity issues.

Constantly evaluate existing systems against accepted and evolving industry standards.

Advocate and implement industry best practices for configuration management, build and deployment automation, and operational monitoring and analysis.

Develop and help maintain operational administration, system and data backup, disaster recovery, and security/performance monitoring policies and tools.

Proactively evaluate systems; identify, propose and execute changes in service of improving efficiencies, cost savings, or other areas.

Act as first responder and system owner during triage and analysis of abnormalities in system operation.

Be prepared to take on a dynamic variety of IT roles and tasks as needed.

Qualifications

High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred.

2+ years’ experience in a DevOps role or equivalent.

Experience working with AWS, Python, Openshift, Linux, Mainframe, Java, BPM, IIB.

Experience working with Splunk and Dynatrace configurations preferred.

Experience working with Kafka workloads (alongside OpenShift) preferred.

Experience at building, deploying, and operating distributed services at scale.

Experience working in and troubleshooting highly available production environments.

Experience creating tools and processes that enable highly available, scalable and reliable customer environments.

Independent judgment in the selection of methods and techniques used to deliver operational solutions.
