QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Knowledge of and training on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), elementary math curriculum, and best practices in math instruction
- Proven knowledge of Guided Math instruction and use of manipulatives to develop conceptual understanding for math students
- Demonstrated evidence of professional growth, including leadership or participation in a wide range of professional learning experiences
- Demonstrated communication skills and interpersonal skills that promote collaboration and effective communication with adults
- Comprehensive knowledge of instructional strategies, data for decision making, intervention and enrichment strategies, student assessment, and use of instructional technology
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
Bachelor's degree
Master's degree preferred
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Educaiton Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment
Valid Bilingual Certification or Spanish language skills preferred

This position may require travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some nights and weekends.
JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Math Interventionist - Elementary will be responsible for developing a student centered approach to Title I campus math intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics. The Math Interventionist will provide intervention and academic supports aligned to the District Response to Intervention Plan to ensure students are able to master grade level standards. The incumbent will collaborate to develop a strong instructional intervention model to support student progress in mathematics.

- Instruction & Intervention
- Collaborate with campus teacher to deliver research based mathematics instruction
- Collaborate with campus administrators, teachers, and the Teaching and Learning division to plan and deliver targeted student interventions aligned with the Districts Response to Intervention plan
- Provide training and support for teachers through ongoing job embedded professional learning to support co-teaching, research based best practice in math instruction, and to facilitate best practices in student intervention strategies
- Utilize best practices for intervention including small group instruction using the push in model, co-teaching, and the use of math manipulatives and technology to build conceptual understanding
- Collaborate with district and campus administrators and teachers to evaluate student achievement for the purpose of placing students in the appropriate intervention and identifying/delivering support services
- Coordinate with campus administrators and teachers to organize mathematics intervention and enrichment activities for students
- Analyze data using the cycle identified in the Local Assessment Plan from formative, interim, summative, and mathematics screeners to monitor student progress, group students, and plan focused student interventions
- Implement a progress monitoring system for all students within intervention groups aligned with the District Response to Intervention plan for progress monitoring
- Collaborate to utilize the mathematics screener data to develop an intervention schedule for identified students
- Regularly communicate with campus and district staff and parents regarding student progress
- Collaborate with teachers and students to set and track student performance goals
- Lead and/or participate in guided observations to promote reflective practice
- Maintain and report math interventionist services using the identified reporting tool
- Create and articulate a schedule with administrators of activities for instructional intervention, professional learning opportunities, and professional growth requirements that support mathematics instruction
- Keep abreast of and research best practices for math instruction, intervention, and enrichment in the assigned grade levels
- Attend district level instructional, intervention, math content knowledge development sessions, and professional learning events to promote professional growth
- Coordinate the administration of the District mathematics screener and use of corresponding data reports
- Provide support to teachers on the implementation of math instructional resources including manipulatives and technology
- Maintain and submit documentation to support intervention activities that address the Comprehensive Needs Assessment which is included in the Campus Improvement Plan in compliance with Title I
- Meet regularly with campus instructional leaders to communicate program needs and plan support structures
- Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Support the implementation of the written curriculum with fidelity
- Coordinate scheduling of student interventions
- Facilitate the implementation of the mathematics screener
