Chief Of Staff

1build (YC W20) is looking for an exceptional Chief of Staff to assist the company Founder / CEO in the day-to-day operations of the business. This role is perfect for someone who is obsessed with efficiency and who’s looking to learn the ins-and-outs of running a rapidly scaling technology company. You will be taking ownership over a wide range of responsibilities from recruiting to company-wide project management to finance.
About us:
1build is automating cost estimation in construction with a combination of human and machine intelligence. Our marketplace of expert cost estimators is scaled by an internal programming language for buildings called Owl. Owl allows cost estimators in our marketplace to efficiently convert building blueprints into shopping lists of construction materials and labor.
Our vision is to codify the language buildings. 1build’s goal is to use data and algorithmic logic to become an end-to-end support system for builders as they manage projects from cost estimation to bidding to material procurement. Over the past 12 months we’ve completed $150M+ in construction estimation projects for hundreds of construction companies across the US, including for famous brands such as Amazon, Hilton, and 7/11.

Our founding team comes from companies like Tesla, Apple, WeWork, Uber & Samsara and academic backgrounds at Harvard & Princeton. Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as the right hand to the company CEO
• Recruiting and sourcing for engineering, sales, and executive roles
• Developing company-wide process documentations and wikis
• Running payroll, benefits, and HR policies
• Communicating with CFO for financial model updates & tax compliance
• Assisting with fundraising and investor communication
• Managing social medial and customer support channels

About you:

• You are keenly organized and able to communicate clearly in writing
• You have genuine excitement about solving problems in construction
• You are thrilled to be helpful, no matter how big or small the task at hand

Requirements:

• 3+ years in investment banking, consulting, or at a fast growing startup
• Prior experience in operations, finance, or recruiting is preferred
• Top-tier undergraduate or graduate degree is preferred
