Oracle's IaaS A-Team is a central group of highly specialized solution architects who operates as part of the Oracle A-Team. The A-Team is a highly technical team comprised of Enterprise Architects, Solution Specialists, and Software Engineers within the Oracle Product Development organization. We work closely with customers and partners around the globe. We provide expert advice on architecture, design, best practices, and troubleshooting Oracle Cloud Services.

As a member of this team, your work will be challenging and diverse. Your main responsibilities include:


  • To focus on learning emerging technology and sharing that knowledge throughout Oracle and with customers and partners
  • Be responsible for maintaining relationships and working with strategic accounts to gain and report field experience with new technologies.
  • Help coordinate and resolve high profile escalations.
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
  • Accelerating IaaS & PaaS adoption by customers and partners.
  • Providing consistent and continuous feedback to IaaS & PaaS Product Engineering teams regarding bugs and enhancements
  • Manage competing, quickly changing priorities effectively and handle input from many internal and external collaborators and stakeholders.
  • Help define, plan, and marshal needed resources for a given project.
  • Provide hands-on, day-to-day oversight, engagement, and support for a team of high caliber solution architects. Help team members to grow professionally, maximize team productivity, and continually search for and implement process improvements.
  • Work effectively in a fluid environment of fast moving targets with minimal oversight, few formal requirements, and in a fluid environment. Listen to input from team members, stakeholders, management, and peers, and make quick decisions "on the fly" as needed, often without the availability of complete information.
  • Developing and maintaining a productive working relationship with project sponsors, and key stakeholders. Seeking guidance only on critical and politically sensitive issues.
  • Clearly defining and communicating roles, responsibilities, and expectations for all members of a project team.
  • Identify recurring patterns and solutions and generalize these for broader re-use across the entire ecosystem.
  • Develop metrics and reports to provide ongoing progress and feedback to Oracle senior leadership and also customer senior leadership

Key Skills, listed in priority order:

  • 15+ years of experience in developing, implementing or architecting information systems
  • 4+ years of experience with cloud computing (Oracle Public Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google)
  • 8+ years of experience with Oracle Database technology
  • 8+ years of experience with Oracle WebLogic server and Fusion Middleware
  • 4+ years leading technical teams
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Unix shell scripting, Perl, WLST)
  • Experience with cloud technologies (virtualization, software defined networking, storage, PaaS)
  • Experience with container technologies (Solaris zones, Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos)
  • Experience with storage technologies (NFS, iSCSI, ZFS, block storage, object storage)
  • Hands-on system administration experience (Linux, Solaris)
  • Experience leading business requirements gathering and translation to system requirements
  • Experience facilitating business process design as it relates to cloud deployment
  • Broad knowledge of Oracle WebLogic Server
  • Hands-on Java development experience
  • Experience with at least one of the following development environments/languages: J2EE, Java, JavaScript, .NET, C#

Detailed Description and Job RequirementsOverlay sales personnel providing specialist product expertise to the sales force.

Partners with Account, Technology, and Application sales representatives to qualify and close new business on Oracle solutions. Provides specific industry or product expertise to facilitate the closing of deals within sales representatives territory. Interacts with sales team to architect the solution, and develop and execute solution strategies for market. Manages solution opportunities to obtain appropriate and necessary resources for all qualified opportunities. Leads teams in the sales process for establishing market visibility and deal visibility. Presents/demonstrates solution to high level clients and industry conference attendees. May provide training to field sales on industry/solutions. Builds and maintains a network and up to date specific industry or product knowledge.

Acknowledged authority within the Corporation. Provides leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. 12 years applicable experience preferred. Subject matter expertise in industry/product space. Knowledge of key industry leaders and management. Knowledge of Oracle competition. Presentation and product demonstration experience. Previous consultative selling experience preferred. Excellent communication, negotiating, and closing skills with prospects and customers. Travel may be needed. BA/BS degree in related field.
