DSHS IT Quality Assurance - Entry

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) within the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is seeking an individual for our IT Quality Assurance Entry Level position. Support us in our mission in Transforming Lives!

This position reports directly to the DVR Senior IT Manager and serves as the only quality assurance/application tester for the IT Unit of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). This position is assigned work and work is checked by DVR’s lead applications developer. This position ensures administration-wide enterprise IT projects are properly tested and deployed in a controlled manner. This position participates in IT enterprise projects that are utilized statewide by DVR staff.

This position participates in application planning meetings and analyzes/reviews business requirements. This position designs and executes test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications and reviews test plans/scripts written by other staff. The position verifies specific actions or functions of code and detects and documents software anomalies, issues and failures. This position manages a database of software defects for tracking and reporting purposes. Collaboration with business includes performing reviews and walkthroughs to senior staff.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Design and develop creative/innovative solutions
  • Develop source code management process
  • Research and develop modern source code, build and delivery solutions and make recommendations using analytical approaches
  • Maintain reliable source code repositories
  • Develop and issue standards and processes including reporting, testing and evaluation using established quality assurance principles
  • Utilizes TFS and Visual Studio to develop and maintain test projects and automated test scripts
  • Develop and utilize test data sets that support the implementation of test plans and procedures
  • Support and maintain test results confirming data integrity and security
  • Perform End to End testing with validation of the backend systems
  • Analyze data to identify and resolve operational problems
  • Identify and create the dependency data that will be used during the test cycle
  • Identify the batch dependencies to successfully execute the test scenarios
  • Ensure applications are 508 compliant

Who should apply:

The applicant should have:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology AND
  • Three years of analysis, testing and/or the development and review of business requirement documents AND
  • Two years of experience in a software testing environment to include first-hand experience working with testing frameworks (eg: Selenium and Jenkins)

Desirables:
  • Superior skills in testing, troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
