NOTICE OF VACANT POSITIONCOMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR – FAYETTEVILLE, NCOpening Date: September 4, 2020 Closing Date: Open until filled Employment Type: Full-time/Hourly Starting Pay: $17.17 hourly POSITION SUMMARYThe Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, managing, and supporting a variety of communication and public outreach efforts for Action Pathways, Inc. and its programs under the general direction and supervision of the Communications Director. OVERVIEW OF GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Understands and communicates information accurately to ACTION PATHWAYS employees, public, and media.
  • Uploads and assists with web site content.
  • Writes and influences the direction of various types of copy appropriate for marketing to and communicating with potential clients, partners, internal audiences, and surrounding communities.
  • Assists with writing press releases, newsletters, flyers, brochures, grants, and other communication materials from conception to completion. Assists in developing and making presentations. Provides communication and public relations support to all programs under the ACTION PATHWAYS umbrella.
  • Manages the ACTION PATHWAYS activity and events calendar.
  • Takes photos at agency events and maintains a photograph database.
  • Receives and manages the Communications Request Form.
  • Issues information weekly via e-mail blast, i.e., e-newsletters or e-mail, to contacts and media.
  • Ensures the highest quality standards for copywriting are maintained. Obtains approvals, edits and proofs copy developed by others.
  • Collaborates with Communication and Agency Advancement teams to ensure ACTION PATHWAYS communications and public relations strategies effectively support and enhance the agency and its programs. Represents Communications in absence of Director.
  • Ensures consistency and coherence in developing internal and external communications materials by working cooperatively with program directors or assigned designees. All public relations efforts are to support and reinforce the ACTION PATHWAYS brand.
  • Assists in developing communication project schedules and deadlines.
Media Relations
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships and networking capacity with community organizations, vendors, and municipalities.
  • Works with the media daily providing program information through flyers or other distribution means.
  • Manages the ACTION PATHWAYS media and stakeholder databases.
  • Responds to press inquiries in the absence of the Communications Director.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Performs all duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures, applicable laws, and standards of conduct.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in Communications, English, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Administration, or related field.
Experience: Two to four years of related experience in the area of communications or public relations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A minimum of two years of experience in graphic design and creating digital and print collateral. Experience managing social media accounts for a brand/business and creating and implementing a content calendar. Nonprofit and grant writing experience a plus. GENERAL REQUIREMENTSEmployee should have knowledge of Internet and Word Processing software including Microsoft Office applications and social media marketing tools. In addition, experience in preparing spreadsheets to present and maintain media databases is essential. In addition, knowledge of and experience with Adobe Creative Suite to include Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro preferred. Must have a valid driver's license and own transportation. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTBackground check with state and Federal law enforcement agencies required. Selected applicant must submit to a pre-employment substance abuse screening test and receive a negative result for the use of drugs and alcohol as specified in agency policies. Must submit and receive negative results for random testing of the same. The applicant must have and maintain a valid NC driver’s license and acceptable driving.
