Senior Network / Systems Engineer with strong virtualization and infrastructure experience to design, implement, and support stable environments for SMB and healthcare clients. This is a remote-first, hands-on, customer-facing role with a strong emphasis on VMware and Citrix, along with Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, and Active Directory. Experience with modern on-prem platforms and enterprise hardware is a plus.
Responsibilities include:
Engineer and support Citrix environments, including Virtual Apps and Desktops, StoreFront, and NetScaler/ADC where applicable.
Implement and maintain Azure services such as compute, storage, networking, identity integrations, and governance.
Administer and troubleshoot Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and hybrid identity solutions such as Azure AD Connect or cloud sync.
Own incident response and root-cause analysis for complex outages and performance issues across compute, storage, and network layers.
Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management, including firmware, hypervisor, Windows Server, and Citrix components.
Create and maintain technical documentation such as diagrams, runbooks, standards, and change plans.
Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions and provide clear status updates through Teams, Zoom, and ticketing systems.
Mentor junior engineers and help improve operational maturity through monitoring, patching, automation, and best practices.
Required skills:
9+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure administration, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Strong Citrix experience in design, support, and troubleshooting; profile management and performance tuning are a plus.
Solid Microsoft Azure experience, including core services, networking, IAM, and monitoring.
Advanced knowledge of Entra ID and Active Directory, including users, groups, authentication, conditional access concepts, and hybrid identity.
Strong Windows Server administration skills, including patching, roles/features, and troubleshooting.
Practical networking knowledge, including VLANs, routing basics, firewalls, and load balancers, with the ability to work closely with network teams.
Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences in a remote environment.
Nice to have:
Azure Local or similar hyperconverged/on-prem Azure-integrated platforms.
Pure Storage experience, including FlashArray administration, connectivity, and performance troubleshooting.
Cisco UCS experience, including service profiles, firmware, UCS Manager, and VMware integration.
Backup and disaster recovery platforms such as Veeam, along with recovery planning.
Scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Python, or infrastructure as code.
Experience in regulated environments such as healthcare or HIPAA, with strong security best practices.
